Design brief:

Faced with a very narrow, very steep block with a height limit and unbelievable northern ocean views, this brief was every designers dream challenge. Clients had a young family to accommodate and wanted views to die for from every room. A large open plan with a very minimalistic uncluttered feel which flowed onto expansive balconies was to be the focal point of the design.

Design Solution:

Many hours of consultation with the engineer was a large part of the design process. To extend the building area by introducing a platform on steel piers allowed the generous proportions which these clients required to achieve their dream home.
A feeling of hovering in full flight has been achieved from both levels of the home. Bedrooms placed either end of the design assist in achieving a design without hallways yet offering all the privacy the family requires and views have been achieved from every room.
