Brief
The
location was perfect, worth a $200,000+ investment to
update the brick box they’d called home for 12
years. There were beach and estuary views to capture;
the house was dark and cold; the existing kitchen had
little relationship to the rest of the house or the
entertaining/pool area; the entry, dark brick and aging
look of the house were uninviting and uninteresting.
The clients wanted a home to match their personalities
and lifestyle – modern, vibrant, outgoing, effortless,
flowing, a thrill to entertain in, reflecting the beachside
location. They wanted the excitement of coming home
to their own private beach resort.

Solution
A
resort requires a luxury retreat and going up was the
perfect solution in creating an opulent master suite
with full width deck to indulge the magnificent views.
This and extra rear decking were the only extensions
required. An effortless flow was created by totally
relocating all utilities to service living and bedrooms
more efficiently. This opened up a lavish light filled
living area forming a comfortable relationship with
the rear entertaining area and the rest of the house.
From the streetscape through the dramatic entry and
beyond this home now encapsulates the client’s
fantasy for a vibrant modern beachside resort. Final
costing was $250,000.
