Design Brief
Vicki decided it was time for a change from her reclusive
life in her bush hideaway. She had purchased her dream
beach block and wanted to create a colourful, casual,
light filled home for herself and her much loved Great
Dane.
Being
a naturopath Vicki is very spiritual and a relaxed,
natural feel is paramount to create the peace and harmony
she requires. Internal and external areas for contemplation,
a feeling of openness throughout and the ability to
display her own personality are paramount to Vicki.
Oh and space for her guests to feel comfortable which
is separate and private from her own space.
Design
Solution
A
visit to Vicki’s personal space at her bushland
retreat was vital in conceiving her new home. A casual
beach feel was created on the exterior with colorbond
cladding, colourful timber panelling, open carport and
timber screening. Natural polished concrete flows from
the porch through entry floor and onto Bed 2. Tasmanian
Oak stairs and tongue and groove flooring maintain the
organic feel throughout. Screens and nib walls separate
private spaces with kitchen and living areas light and
casual. Vicki’s south easterly deck soaks up the
ocean views in summer while her north westerly patio
with spa provides a warm winter hideaway.
